I went solo to Riga I was so pleasantly surprised by everything there. Felt very safe, the architecture was absolutely gorgeous, and the locals were so helpful with everything I needed.
Posted: April 7, 2024I felt safe, although I have to say that the streets at night were a bit empty, also on the weekend. I really, really recommend taking the free walking tours: especially the one that shows alternative spots. The guide was a young student, and he was brilliant and passionate. Riga is super cool and cheap, I really suggest giving it a try, especially if the flight is not expensive!
Posted: March 12, 2024Experienced: February, 2023I went to Riga to learn more about the Baltic and also because i like exploring different places. The old city center is beautiful and i felt very safe. It is relatively small so you can explore it in a day or two max (i stayed 5 days that was too long i felt). I stayed at a hostel which was also very safe and comfortable.
Posted: February 21, 2024I was in Riga in February, and I can say that it was incredible. It is a very safe, beautiful city to explore. A very good place to eat in Riga is Lido. It is a chain of restaurants that you can find everywhere. Very fresh and good food.
Posted: December 26, 2023If you like museums, I highly recommend the Latvian National Museum of Art, Rīgas Birža Art Museum and the Art Nouveau Museum. It is also nice to visit Zuzeum, where you will find a collection of "Grandmother's" porcelain. If you are a fan of vegan food, be sure to check out MiiT Coffee. I ate there twice and really liked it. I also recommend popping into the Tabu Tea House for tea. The parks and riverside areas amazed me the most.
Posted: October 13, 2023I highly recommend visiting Riga. It turned out to be a very charming city, a place about which I absolutely didn't expect anything and almost didn't know anything. For architecture enthusiasts, it will be a very good travel destination. After a walk around the city, you can relax with some very good food.
Posted: September 24, 2023I was there for 3.5 days. I visited the city (I recommend the Terror Museum) and went to Jūrmala beach. I visited two national parks - Sigulda (an 8-minute ride over the park costs 17 euros, it's not worth it, I wouldn't go again) and Kemeri (lighthouse, park, village) - all by train. I could return to Latvia itself, but probably not to Riga.
Posted: September 23, 2023I've been to Riga three times for three days each time, and only now can I say that I've got to know the city. Fantastic Art Nouveau architecture and the Art Nouveau Museum, a charming fashion museum, and many other places.
Posted: September 20, 2023I spent 3 nights in Riga and had a wonderful time. The weather was kind. I ate and went to bars alone, without any problem. I definitely recommend visiting Riga.
Posted: August 8, 2023Riga is a small and cozy city, one day is enough to view most popular places. Recommend to walk through old Town, it's very beautiful architecture, authentic places, a lot of bars and restaurants, friendly local people. Definitely would go there again!

It is a safe town, especially city centre is, but if you go to Riga's districts away from centre at night, there you can attract some people who are not very pleasant. stay safe and don't walk alone at night very often
Posted: April 30, 2024I would say that Riga is pretty safe, there are no major crimes and you can safely walk home after dark. I would recommend to still be aware of your surroundings as everywhere. Some neighbourhoods like Sarkandaugava and Ķengarags can be more dangerous as others at night, but overall the city is safe
