How safe is Barbados?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Barbados is generally a safe destination, but be aware of your surroundings at night just as you would in any other location. Stick to well-lit areas where there are people around, rather than taking any shortcuts through deserted areas. Although crime isn't rampant, occasional incidents do happen, as in any country. For this reason, nighttime safety while walking alone is decent, but exercising caution is always recommended.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Barbados is generally safe to use. Both public buses and licensed minibuses operate on regular schedules and routes, while private taxis are also reliable. They offer an affordable way to navigate the island. However, like in any foreign country, it's always sensible to remain vigilant about your personal belongings, especially during peak hours when vehicles can become crowded.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Traveling as a solo female traveler to Barbados, you will generally find locals to be friendly and respectful. Instances of street harassment are relatively low, although as with any traveling experience, this can depend on the area and time of day. During daytime and in tourist areas, you should feel quite comfortable. However, like anywhere else, caution should be exercised during late nights and in less crowded areas.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Barbados is generally considered a safe destination with a relatively low risk of petty crimes. Although incidents like pickpocketing or small thefts can occur, as they can anywhere, they are not common. Take standard precautions like keeping an eye on your belongings and not flashing valuable items.
Tap water:

Tap water:Very safe

Barbados is known to have one of the purest supplies of water in the world. Their tap water is naturally filtered through limestone rock, leading to a clean and safe supply. Drinking tap water during your visit is quite safe and shouldn't pose any health risks.

Solo travel experience

In Barbados I felt moderately safe since I was followed one day (during daytime) by an older man through the street and inside a shop and then he only stopped when I was on the phone talking with my sister. I did an island tour with snorkeling and also visited an animal sanctuary. The snorkeling was not the best since the area had plenty of boats full of tourists, the water wasn’t that clear and only saw one turtle far away. But apart from this it was a very pleasant experience. It was not very expensive, the flights and hotel included were around 900£. And also the food was very affordable since the Barbados dollars are less than American dollars. I would recommend going to all the beaches, you can easily walk around and all the beaches are free to enter. The bus is very affordable but I didn’t feel very welcomed by the locals in there. It was a good first time solo experience but I didn’t go out at night, thought it was better not to risk it.

Couple travel experience

Beautiful beaches and the nicest locals’ I always felt safe. Food is amazing. Must do an open jeep excursion— so much history and beautiful sights. The weather was very hot and humid but it only rained once.
