How safe is Split?

Karmen

Karmen

Split is a very safe city, women can go alone in the dark without worrying at all. There is no criminal here, no danger of being robbed, attacked or anything similar. You don't have to pay attention to your staff when you're outside and you don't have to worry about your safety.

Split was my first solo trip and could not recommend it enough. Felt safe there, the perfect mix of chilling and things to see and do and Croatia is a beautiful country.

Solo travel experience

I felt super safe and loved it. The history and scenery was beautiful, lots of day trips you can do like to bosnia or hvar or any of the islands (and not that expensive!). i also did a day trip to omish which was stunning and went zip lining which was inexpensive and the guides were great for support and assistance as i was a bit nervous but is a must do if you go there! lots of ice cream options. i stayed in a hostel (en route) which seemed sketchy from the outside but very much was not and got to meet a lot of cool people as well as it was a 5 minute walking distance from the beach and board walk.

Is Split worth visiting?

Overall rating

4.4 /5

Solo travel experience

I found Split to be such a disappointment compared to other places I visited in Croatia. It's still a nice place, but all the other places just blew me away with their beauty, while Split significantly fell short of expectations.

I was in split for 3 days and it was amazing, the views, architecture and activities were pure bliss. It was my first solo trip and its given me more confidence in interacting with stranger's. The food was lovely too :) only slight negative is that some of the locals are a bit hostile but if you can ignore that it's great!
